Costs and payment method with Meta
Before the numbers scare you: many sends cost less than you'd expect. Here's how Meta's pricing model works so you can explore it calmly.
How does Meta pricing work?
WhatsApp Business API charges per delivered message (not per sent message). Price depends on two things: the recipient's country and the message category.
There are four categories: marketing, utility, authentication, and service. An event invitation is usually classified as marketing or utility, depending on how Meta evaluates the template.
Utility and authentication messages have volume discounts: the more you send in a month, the lower the unit price.
What affects total spend
Guest country: each market has its own rate. Mexico, for example, differs from Spain or Argentina.
Template type: Meta classifies it when approving, so the price is set before your first send.
Volume: for large events, check Meta's discount tiers for utility and authentication sends.
How to stay in control of spending
In Meta Business Manager you can set spending alerts to avoid surprises.
In Invitio, avoiding duplicate resends and cleaning your contact list before sending is the simplest way not to overspend.
For small events or trying without a budget commitment, WhatsApp Personal is free in Invitio (with the limits of a personal number).
Add a payment method in Meta
For messages to be delivered, Meta requires an active card or payment method on your WhatsApp Business account. Without it, sends won't process even if everything is configured correctly in Invitio.
You do this directly in Meta Business — the link below goes to a step-by-step guide.
